José A. Villarreal, Head Band Director - Mighty Apache Band
Mr. Villarreal is a 1998 graduate of Martin High School in Laredo, TX. He was a member of the Mighty Tiger Band: "La Banda del Animo!," the Vidal M. Trevino Magnet School Steel Drum Band, Laredo Youth Orchestra, and Laredo Community College Civic Symphony.
He attended Laredo Community College, where he was selected to the TMEA Two-Year Community College All-State Band in 1999 and 2000, was a member of the newly formed LCC Percussion Ensemble, Campus Band, Symphony Orchestra and served as president of the Music Club. He continued his studies at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, where he was a member of the Chorale, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Music Club. Mr. Villarreal began his student teaching with the J.W. Nixon High School Band, M.B. Lamar Middle School Band and Memorial Middle School Band.
Mr. Villarreal's teaching/performance experiences include being a music teacher/percussion consultant at United ISD (Laredo, TX), Assistant Band Director for the TAMIU Marching Band, Adjunct Percussion Instructor/ Percussion Ensemble Director, Middle School Band Director for Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD (Pecos, TX), Beeville ISD, clinician for Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK, and Head Band Director for Charlotte ISD, percussionist for the Corpus Christi Wind Symphony, Odessa College Concert Band, Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra and Laredo Wind Ensemble.
He is a member of the Texas Music Educator's Association (TMEA), Association of Texas Small School Band (ATSSB), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), Percussive Arts Society (PAS) and maintains an active role as judge for Region and Area contests.
Mr. Villarreal is married to Angie and have a beautiful daughter, Araceli.
