Chemistry is the study of matter and energy. It includes the study of the structure, composition, properties and behavior of matter, and deals with the changes that matter undergoes and the energy that accompanies this change. This course provides an orderly development of the fundamental concepts and principles of chemistry with an emphasis on inquiry and critical thinking skills including: problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and experimental investigations. Laboratory work is an integral component of this course to enhance the emphasis of process skills and laboratory safety.
